As a designer, artist, and craftsman, my work has had a deep connection to both the physical manipulation of materials--within their properties and character, as well as to the process of conceptualization in form, color, proportion, and joinery. It is the thoughtful and honest balance between these primary elements that I am intent on expressing in the work, regardless of scale. Although
we incorporate techniques, materials, and forms rooted in the past,
we seek to give each original design a timelessness that will outlive
period or style and continue to contribute to the composition of the
space that it inhabits. Combining design and craft, our studio produces
work that is poetic and rational, industrial and organic, archaic
and contemporary. As a design studio with an extensive fabrication
shop, we are able to achieve subtleties in the work that are often
otherwise lost in the process of translation. Since 1997, Archive
Designs has created unique architectural metalwork, hammered copper
hoods, repoussé, furniture and lighting for individuals across
the country; we hope to have the opportunity to work with you soon. Joseph Mross 2007 |
