The standard copper finishes that we currently offer are: light antique, medium antique, and dark antique patina. Since the finishes are applied by hand and copper can react in different ways, depending on many factors, there may be variations in color, darkness and sheen. This is considered desirable as each piece is a work of art with individuality and character. Minor imperfections are evidence of the handcrafted nature of our work and are one of the characteristics of our work that is sought after by collectors of handcrafted copper work. We occasionally do other custom finishes, such as the infamous verde antique; call us to discuss your needs.

Most of our projects have a medium brown antique patina with some highlights when they leave our shop. The patina, or surface coloration, has a hand-rubbed wax protector coat, which slows the aging process, however, the copper should be allowed to continue to age naturally. Environmental factors may cause some areas to age more quickly than others. An occasional re-waxing (every 6 months or so) will help the color stay as stable as possible, however, you should expect it to continue aging.

Note: these color samples represent a range of tones.
