Our antique nickel (plated copper), like our other finishes, has some light distressing, fine scratches, is somewhat tarnished and is waxed. It will continue to mellow and develop a warmer tone. Nickel plating is only available in medium patina. Since the finishes are applied by hand and the nickel can react in different ways, depending on many factors, there may be variations in color, darkness and sheen. This is considered desirable as each piece is a work of art with individuality and character. Minor imperfections are evidence of the handcrafted nature of our work and are one of the characteristics of our work that is sought after by collectors of handcrafted metal work.

The patina, or surface coloration, has a hand-rubbed wax protector coat, which slows the aging process, however, the copper should be allowed to continue to age naturally. Environmental factors may cause some areas to age more quickly than others. An occasional re-waxing (every 6 months or so) will help the tone stay as stable as possible, however, you should expect it to continue aging.

Note: this color sample represents a range of tones.
